Lately I have been baking so much that I haven't had time to do much of anything else. Except for make time to work out with my husband to combat the wonderful sweets that I love to make. My inlaws were in town for my husband's birthday so I made a yummy Blueberry Buckle Cake after we picked fresh blueberries. Recipe from Savory Sweet Life
Brian requested pies for his birthday instead of the traditional birthday cake so I made Strawberry Pie for him. Recipe here. I also decided to use some of my fresh berries to make a blackberry pie and mixed berry pie with a crumb top. I basically made up those recipes so don't have a link for that. It was a good thing that I had made three pies since almost all of our friends made it to the birthday party and came over for pie afterwards. It really made me realize how thankful I am for all of our friends!
Brian's mom brought me some homemade plum, peach, and strawberry jelly that she had just whipped up one week. She makes a fabulous thumbprint cookie recipe that I wanted to duplicate. I found the recipe on allrecipes.com for almond thumbprint cookies with fabulous reviews so I gave it a shot. Needless to say, they are adorable and yum, BUT be prepared to spend hours in the kitchen shaping these little cookies.
I had also decided to make some blueberry muffins for Brian since blueberries were on sale at Target this week. They are easy to make and relatively not bad for you since it is a cooking light recipe from one of my earlier blog posts.
It was a long night, but I finally finished and was pleased with the results.
